Transformers are exposed to various types of stress throughout their average service life of 40 years, which may lead to different failure modes such as electrical, thermal, chemical, and mechanical faults. Transformer failures can result in costly consequences including damage to primary and secondary equipment, power outages, environmental remediation costs, and reputational impact.

Monitoring five dissolved gases using SITRAM Multisense 5 helps prevent transformer failures. SITRAM Multisense 5 analyzes the concentration of five dissolved gases and moisture contained in transformer insulating oil (mineral oil and ester oil), enabling early detection of abnormal conditions and fault indications.
